How to choose thermal grease for lamps

In outdoor lighting equipment, LED lights operate continuously for more than ten hours almost every day. Prolonged operation causes the junction temperature of LEDs to rise steadily, so heat dissipation performance directly determines luminous efficiency, stability, and the overall service life of the lamps. For outdoor lamps, heat dissipation is particularly crucial, and one of the key steps to improve heat dissipation efficiency is selecting high-quality thermal grease. The heat dissipation structure of LED lights typically consists of heating elements, aluminum substrates, and thermal grease. The grease is responsible for filling the tiny gaps between the heating chip and the heat sink, facilitating the rapid transfer of heat. If the thermal grease is of poor quality, heat cannot be dissipated smoothly, leading to the continuous accumulation of temperature on the PCB, accelerated LED light decay, severe color temperature drift, and even early failure—directly shortening the service life of the lamps. LED equipment has a long service cycle and operates in complex environments (such as high outdoor temperatures, humidity, and dust). Therefore, thermal grease must not only "conduct heat well" but also maintain long-term stability, without cracking or oil bleeding. Thus, high thermal conductivity, low volatility, and resistance to high temperatures and aging are the core indicators for selecting thermal grease.
