Robot lead screw lubricating and sound absorbing grease

For lead screw systems in equipment such as industrial robots and CNC machine tools, operating speeds and loads are continuously increasing. However, many enterprises still use ordinary grease, leading to recurring issues such as increased noise, rising lead screw temperatures, and accelerated wear. The core reason lies in the fact that high-speed lead screws have far more stringent requirements for lubricating grease than imagined. The greatest challenge for high-speed lead screws is the friction and heat generated by high-speed rotation. Ordinary grease has a relatively high friction coefficient, and when the lead screw operates at high speeds, a large amount of heat is produced. If the grease lacks sufficient thermal stability, high temperatures will soften it and gradually cause it to be thrown off, forming a "lubrication gap." Once the oil film breaks, the lead screw comes into direct contact with the nut, resulting in an instantaneous multiplication of wear rate, and may even cause jamming or loss of precision. Another overlooked issue is shear stability. Lead screws in industrial robot joints and machining centers experience intense vibration and shear forces during high-speed reciprocating motion. Ordinary grease cannot withstand continuous shear, gradually thinning and being squeezed out, which shortens the lubrication cycle and significantly increases equipment maintenance costs. In these scenarios, professional grease designed for high-speed lead screws should be used, such as polyurea-based formulations or grease containing molybdenum disulfide or extreme pressure additives. Such grease can maintain structural stability even in high-heat environments, form a durable oil film, and reduce temperature rise caused by friction.
