Early‑warning for mass plastic‑part scrap: PC+ABS shell swelling & fracture? 90% of engineers overlook lubrication‑related issues
Booming sectors including new‑energy vehicles, 800‑V fast‑charge energy‑storage gear and AI consumer‑electronics widely adopt lightweight PC+ABS alloy. Many manufacturers run into one critical trouble. Even with standardized moulds, raw materials and injection‑mould settings, mass‑produced parts suffer broken buckles, swollen housings and hidden cracks on stress‑bearing spots. This brings heavy rework costs, product recalls and client compensation claims.
Most engineers spend months checking materials and techniques, yet ignore hidden corrosion caused by assembly grease.
PC+ABS is a polar blended plastic with special molecular structure and strict requirements for lubricant compatibility. Common mineral oil, synthetic ester oil and ordinary silicone grease will damage plastic components:
  1. Chemical corrosion breaks plastic molecular chains. PC base material is sensitive to ester‑based oil, while the ABS rubber layer easily swells after mineral‑oil penetration. Grease seeps inside and snaps polymer chains, making buckles, gears and shells brittle and easy to crack under slight force.

  2. Residual internal stress mixes with lubricant and triggers cracks on thin walls, corners, screw posts and snaps. Standard grease softens the plastic surface and releases built‑in stress during plug‑in, opening‑closing or vibration.

  3. Polar incompatibility causes size expansion. Non‑polar regular grease clashes with polar PC+ABS and makes parts swell. Low‑grade additives dissolve plastic surfaces and lead to peeling or white marks.

  4. High‑temperature working conditions speed‑up damage. High heat from car‑sun exposure, round‑the‑clock energy‑storage devices and fast chargers accelerates grease penetration and weakens plastic strength, doubling defect rates.

To stop grease‑triggered plastic failures, abandon mineral oil, ester oil and regular silicone grease. Choose Baoxing BX‑300/E‑WY perfluorinated polyether grease with perfect PC+ABS compatibility:
  1. Zero corrosion on plastics to prevent stress cracks

    Fully compatible with PC, PC+ABS and ABS. No swelling, whitening or invisible cracks after application.

  2. Wide temperature range for high‑temp charging‑device use

    Working temperature: ‑40℃‑300℃. The grease won’t leak, carbonize or separate oil under continuous heating.

  3. Outstanding oxidation resistance for low maintenance cost

    Low volatility and stable performance extend service cycles and cut repeated re‑greasing work.

Practical guidelines to avoid failed mass production
  1. Complete plastic‑compatibility tests in line with ISO22088 before official production;

  2. Run 72‑hour high‑temperature ageing tests on small‑batch assembled parts, and confirm no cracks or swelling before large‑scale manufacturing;

  3. Thoroughly remove old mineral or ester‑based grease on workpieces and equipment to prevent chemical reactions between mixed lubricants.
